"During of four weeks I saw approximately the same amount of patients and discussed interesting cases which I see in Karabagh during the year. This helped me to obtain valuable experience in this short period and will use it in my routine work. This is wonderful."

"Honestly, nowadays, when nothing is free, I did not believe such a humanitarian project could exist. After applying, I had little hope to be invited to Yerevan. I was extremely excited: first of all, it was a great opportunity to deepen my professional knowledge, and second, it presented the perfect occasion to spend one month in my homeland."

Profile:

Lilit Ananikyan from Javakhk, was born in 1977 in Satia, which is in the Ninotsminda region of Georgia. After graduating from secondary school, she was admitted to the Yerevan Institute of Traditional Medicine, where she went to medical school.

Upon her return to her native town, Lilit worked at the greatly understaffed and under resourced Ninotsminda Emergency Center. The center uses two old cars as ambulances and they have only one stretcher. As manager of the medical ambulatory department, she constantly deals with less than adequate conditions, including no heat during the winter.

In comparison, medical centers in Yerevan are vastly different. During May, Lilit was able to experience this again when she trained at the Cardiology Department of Yerevan Medical University’s #1 Clinic, under supervision of her mentor Professor Hamayak Sisakian.

Lilit also found the one-week training for emergency service physicians she attended to be extremely helpful. She was able to get acquainted with new equipment and at the same time gain skills. Also during that month, she managed to complete a computer skills training at the Eva Educational Center in Yerevan.

She hopes to apply her new knowledge in her practice upon her return. She also believes that she will be able to bring about more effective results if the Ninotsminda center has access to modern equipment. Of course, she also hopes for continued support, which has so far greatly supported her medical center through the donation of medical supplies.

“This training program created new opportunities for new network, also provided with huge information on updated professional innovations/ technologies. It is important that, thanks to the program and the new network, we have now access to information on all conferences, seminars and medical events. I could never imagine that free training in our country could be so effective, informative and saturated. This even more inspires with high responsibility/ obliges us to improve our health service quality. Thus, the training also conveys the culture of benevolence. We realize that we don’t pay for the training and highly appreciate the great opportunity and accomplishment.”
